Wingspan is a game where players work to build their own bird habitats. Each player has their own personal player board where they place bird cards. On your turn, you can take one of four actions: 1. Playing a bird card 2. Gaining food 3. Laying eggs 4. Drawing more bird cards Each bird card has special abilities that can help you score points, like collecting more food, cards, or eggs. The player with the most points wins. Why is it fun? The goal is to collect birds that work well together and create a board with high-scoring combinations. As the game progresses, you’ll gather points for their birds’ abilities, eggs, and the variety of birds they attract to their habitat. Wingspan is fun and strategic as it revolves around bird-themed cards and clever choices to create the best bird sanctuary. Why would you like it? Wingspan is accessible to both newcomers and seasoned gamers due to its straightforward rules and engaging gameplay. The game is designed to encourage strategic thinking and planning as players collect cards, eggs, food, and create engine chains of bird species with special abilities to maximise their points. One of the game’s especially standout features is its stunning artwork, with each card depicting a unique and intricately illustrated bird species. This attention to detail not only adds to the game’s visual appeal but also provides interesting facts about each bird, making it an educational experience for all ages.
Very popular game from Stonemaier, and for good reason. Wingspan has a lot to offer. Sure, there is more luck involved than I would like from a game like this, but the mechanics are tight.
I love Wingspan. Great game and the OG of the 'span' games. Super simple in gameplay as you only have 3 actions you can do, but it's got more depth in what decision you make and how you play, keeping in mind multiple scoring factors.
