Pandemic… The game that many board gamers remember as one of their earlier games that got them into the hobby.. and yet still is great fun to play to this day. Pandemic a fully cooperative board game where players have to work together to stop the spread of deadly diseases that threaten the world. The game is played on a map of the world divided into cities. Here’s how it works in short: Choose Roles: Players start by selecting an asymmetrical role from a set of specialised characters, each with their own unique abilities to help the team. Turn Actions: On your turn, you can perform up to four actions, which can include moving to a nearby city, removing disease cubes, sharing cards with other players to discover cures, or building research stations to move more efficiently around the board. Communication and coordination are crucial to success. Infections Spread: After each players turn, the games gets a turn, where you’ll draw infection cards that determine which cities suffer from outbreaks. Extra cubes are added to these cities, and if a city already has three cubes of a colour, it ‘outbreaks’, causing nearby cities to become infected with cubes as well. Outbreaks can rapidly escalate the crisis. Find Cures: The ultimate goal to win the game is to discover cures for all four diseases by collecting sets of city cards matching the disease’s colour. Once a cure is found, you can use one action to remove all cubes of that color from the board. If you cure all four diseases before running out of time, before you run out of any 1 colour of cube, or you have too many outbreaks, you win the game. But if outbreaks become too widespread, you run out of cards, or one colour of cubes are all gone you lose. Pandemic is a challenging and exciting game that really requires teamwork, planning, and efficient use of your role’s special abilities to save the world from devastating diseases. Not to mention good communication!
Still one of the best co-ops going. All the games I play, and I still love cracking out a game of Pandemic. The legacy games are good, but the original is great fun.
Arguably the best gateway coop game out there
Still remains one of the best co-ops to date. One of the most engaging games I've ever played. Will never get bored of this one.
One of my favourite co-op games!
