The "Arte di Calimala" — the guild of cloth finishers and merchants in foreign cloth — was one of the greater guilds of Florence, who arrogated to themselves the civic power of the Republic of Florence during the Late Middle Ages. The woolen cloth trade was the engine that drove the city’s economy and the members of the Calimala were the elite of Florence. Throughout its long history, the Arte di Calimala supervised the execution of artistic and architectural works. Most Florentine guilds performed such activities, but the Calimala distinguished itself from other guilds through the number and prestige of the projects and the sites administered, including the construction and decoration of some of the major churches of the city.

A really interesting adaptation of worker placement. If you place a worker on a stack of other players (or even your own) they get to do the actions again. This mechanic leads to some really interesting choices and potentially highly rewarding turns. Will need to play a few more times to fully delve into this game but on first playthrough I really enjoyed.

Played a Demo at UKGE25 then played a deluxe copy full game thereafter. It’s a rewarding euro where you can gain resources and actions on other people’s turns too. That’s always nice. Theres a few tricky ideas to get your head around with the ongoing scoring and whatnot, but not bad. Will have to give it some more plays. Could see my opinion fluctuating, either higher or lower. Will wait n see
