Andromeda's Edge, a dangerous and uncharted region on the fringe of the Andromeda Galaxy, is the setting for this game of galactic colonization. Players lead a fledgling faction, starting with a space station and limited resources, and must expand their influence by gathering resources, claiming moons, and developing planets. Strategic ship placement is crucial for resource acquisition and interacting with Alliance Bases, while combat with raiders and rival factions is resolved through dice battles. Returning ships to the station allows players to utilize acquired modules for energy generation and further development. The ultimate goal is to advance on five progress tracks – Science, Industry, Commerce, Civilization, and Supremacy – through strategic development of planets and station upgrades, leading to victory through mid-game events and final scoring.

Big Thematic Euro with many different mechanics going on. The designer did well in not making it too overwhelming. Has one of the simplest/quickest combat systems I've come across, and I like that. Not the most ground-breaking game I've played, but definitely worth giving a go.

Although I enjoyed Andromeda's Edge and would play it again, I wouldn't be in a rush to play it. My initial experience was this is a top tier game and one of my favourites of the year but thinking it over, it really wants to be more of a serious game with less luck. The dwellings of eldervale have the more thematic highs that suit this style of game and if I was to own the two, I think I would go for the latter. I did like the combat system and wouldn't turn down a game.

I did like Andromeda's Edge, but I didn't feel it was fully up to the hype. I did enjoy the gameplay at the thinky-ness around it, but it kind of felt like a typical euro game. Not real new mechanics for me. I think one of the factors is that I didn't play deluxe so I didn't see the cool minatures that comes with it. That might have added to the overall experience.
